Eielson AFB Barracks

NEXUS performed an air barrier test for this three-story, 168-room dormitory located near Fairbanks, Alaska. Working in subzero conditions with frigid wind chills, fan calculations had to be adjusted to account for the extreme weather. The weather conditions were so extreme that water bottles inside the building were freezing during the test because of the excessive cold. The testing team had to warm equipment to ensure it performed properly, and ultimately, the facility successfully passed the air barrier requirements.

Test results and the extreme environmental conditions were shared with Retrotec, the fan manufacturer, to help them develop better software programs for these extreme conditions.
