Kent YMCA
The project is a new two-story 50,000 square foot fitness facility with natatorium located in Kent, Washington. Project is LEED V4 BD+C New Construction, utilizing Option 2: Enclosure Commissioning, requiring whole building air barrier testing for Enhanced LEED credits
Site inspections were performed during construction to observe installation of building enclosure materials, and a whole building air barrier test was performed upon completion of the building enclosure.
Testing was performed in two parts by isolating and testing the natatorium separately to test the integrity of the air barrier along the internal demising wall that keeps the warm, humid air in the natatorium from infiltrating the remainder of the building.
Building Enclosure Commissioning was performed to support achieving LEED v.4 Enhanced Commissioning requirements. Additionally, NEXUS performed design consulting for the architect to assist in waterproofing and air barrier detailing.
